BOARD OF DIRECTORS

I am RJ Steines, running for re-election to the SGCC Board of Directors. I’ve served as Treasurer this past year and helped make significant financial progress in 2024. My 30+ years of financial leadership can help guide SGCC through current challenges, including deferred maintenance, food and beverage performance, and membership growth. For 2025, we need to continue improving our budget and operate the club like a business. Membership is key to financial health—both in numbers and in members embracing their role in supporting the club. I believe continued investment in our facilities will enhance the member experience and attract new members. With my finance background, I’m confident I can continue to serve the club and contribute to its success. I ask for your vote to help us build a world-class club and a strong community.

I hope to contribute to multiple areas on the board, including governance, golf operations, and communication with staff and members. My 43 years in Reno have included roles in education, coaching, and local government, where I oversaw golf courses and managed budgets, emergency management, and legislative affairs. These experiences can benefit the board and SGCC. The golf industry faces challenges like maintaining financial stability. The strategic plan is essential for long-term success, and I look forward to helping guide its execution. With experience in golf, education, and government, and as a retiree, I can direct my energy to support the board. I rely on data-driven solutions and strong communication. My goal is to contribute to a growing, stable, and enjoyable club. I will work collaboratively to add value and help the club thrive.

My desire to serve on the board comes from my experience on the finance committee. During this time, I gained valuable insights into the club’s operations and contributed to key discussions. I want to play a more active role in decision-making and contribute to the club's future. My vision includes achieving financial stability, investing in capital improvements, and ensuring our food and beverage operations break even or better. I believe in our strong management team and see the board’s role as focusing on strategic decisions while holding the GM accountable for financial and operational goals. With a B.S. in Accounting and an MBA from Harvard, I retired after a 39-year career in insurance. My leadership roles included Chief Data Officer at AIG and Employers Insurance. I’m passionate about our club’s long-term success and growth, and I welcome your support to help ensure a prosperous future for SGCC.
